The challenges are interesting and satisfying. If I didn't know how to do something, I was encouraged to look through the manual and do extra research to learn how to do it; this gave me a sense of ownership over the solution, which was incredibly rewarding.
CyberStart Game is the most proven cyber security training tool for young adults. Full of challenges that will test the persistence and research needed when facing authentic cyber security tasks, CyberStart builds up students’ technical skills and creative-thinking. Whether approached by beginners with a casual interest or hobbyists who are steps away from becoming a cyber security professional, it offers challenges that engage the mind, teach new skills and enhance existing knowledge.
The rich narrative, highly designed challenges and user-centric progress system is designed to enable a student to work through the challenges at their own pace, without the need of a teacher or anyone who has a background in cyber security.
During this testing period of school closures, we want to ensure young adults and their learning are supported more than ever. That is why our Virtual Cyber School is offering thousands of free licences to keep students occupied.
To take part you must be 13-18 years old and live in the UK. We will reply with further instructions and your CyberStart Game licence once your application form has been reviewed.
Although the content of Virtual Cyber School is drawn from Cyber Discovery’s CyberStart Game phase, the two are entirely separate programmes.
Cyber Discovery is HM Government’s Cyber Schools Programme - a free, online extracurricular programme, turning teenagers across the country into cyber security experts. Entry to Cyber Discovery is a distinct and separate process to this Virtual Cyber School opportunity, involving a fun, assessment qualifying phase.
Students who take part in the Virtual Cyber School will be invited to take part in Cyber Discovery when the next intake opens in June. However, progress and scores achieved in the Virtual Cyber School will not be carried over to Cyber Discovery for those that do take part in both. This is because Cyber Discovery includes multiple learning phases with even more content than the Virtual Learning School - and there is a competitive element to Cyber Discovery, with top-scoring participants qualifying for life changing opportunities and resources.
Virtual Cyber School has been created to provide an interactive and unique cyber security learning environment for as many 13-18 year old UK students as possible during this testing period of school closures. Within Virtual Cyber School you will be given access to CyberStart Game (the largest phase in the Cyber Discovery programme) via a free licence. Sign up now and learn new skills that could launch you on the path to an exciting and rewarding career in cyber security.Apply now
